President Muhammadu Buhari, on Wednesday, hosted the deputy senate president, Ike Ekweremadu, and South East governors at the State House in Abuja.
The director general of the south east governors forum, Professor Simon Ortuanya, had told journalists on Monday that among the issues which the governors were expected to discuss with the president are: the second Niger bridge, the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, and the non-representation of the region in Nigeria’s security apparatus which is largely dominated by Northern Nigerians.

In a related development, Ekweremadu had raised a point of order during the plenary of the senate on Wednesday, decrying the neglect of the South-eastern railway by the fedealf government.
In response the senate majority leader, Ahmed Lawan, had this to say: “Mr. President has also given the express approval and order that every state capital in Nigeria must be linked to the rail way line. This is going to take Nigeria up there, the Next Level.”
