The Minister of Communication, Adebayo Shittu, has threatened to work against the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Oyo State, Adebayo Adelabu, at the February elections.
Backstory: Shittu who lost in the race for the governorship ticket in Oyo State, said there won’t be peace in the APC without restitution.
The National Working Committee of the APC had previously raised a Peace and Reconciliation Committee for each of the six geopolitical zones to reconcile aggrieved members ahead of the general elections.
Speaking at a media chat in Abuja, Shittu accused the APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole and the Governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi, of being the brains behind his exclusion from the party’s primaries.
Shittu is part of a list of prominent APC members who were aggrieved over the conduct of primary elections in their states.
Other aggrieved and prominent members of the party include Governor Ibikunle Amosun (Ogun) and his counterpart in Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, who had both threatened to work against the party’s governorship candidates in their states.
Bottom Line: Unlike Amosun and Okorocha, Shittu had been found to have failed to meet one of the requirements needed to run for office because he did not take part in the National Youth Service Program (NYSC).
