A federal high court in Kano on Monday nullified the primary election that led to emergence of Abba Yusuf as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kano.
The judge, Lewis Allagoa, ruled that the PDP did not conduct governorship primary election in Kano, and declared the candidature of Mr Yusuf null and void. He ordered that the PDP should conduct a fresh primary between today and Friday before the governorship election which is expected to hold on Saturday.
A PDP gubernatorial aspirant, Ali Amin-little, had approached the court, challenging the process that led to emergence of Mr Yusuf as PDP gubernatorial candidate in Kano.
Bottom Line: The PDP is expected to appeal the ruling but it is unlikely that a verdict will be reached before Saturday. The big question is: What will INEC do?
One More thing: With the beating the PDP received in Kano during the presidential election, does the party really have a chance on Saturday?
