The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja ruled on Thursday evening that the challenge by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its defeated candidate in the Ekiti 2018 governorship election, Kolapo Olusola, lacked merit.
- The three-man panel of the court upheld the victory of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Kayode Fayemi as Governor of Ekiti State.
- The Ekiti state Election petition Tribunal had ruled on January 28, 2019 that Fayemi’s victory was in order. The ruling was appealed by the PDP and Olusola, but the Appeal Court has now upheld it.
Next Step: It is likely that the PDP would take the case to the Supreme Court for determination.
