Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara state has pledged to create 2000 jobs with a proposed N200 billion innovation fund. According to him, he is awaiting the nod of the Central Bank of Nigeria to access the fund.
Governor AbdulRazaq told a youth delegation that hubs will be created which would attract Chinese and European investors who would transfer technology to the indigenous workers. “When these hubs are created, they would generate at least 2,000 jobs in the area of movie production and textile designs.”
Quick take: Kwara’s Governor is talking up a pro-business approach to job creation, but it still remains unclear if the hubs would be government or private sector run. More details would be required on the nature of the fund.
