A Federal High Court has granted the application of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to list former minister of information, culture and tourism, Lai Mohammed, as a witness in a N2.5 billion fraud case.
What went down:
- The ICPC had taken the Director-General of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), Mr. Ishaq Kawu and two other individuals, Lucky Omoluwa and Dipo Onifade, to court on the allegation of misappropriating N2.5 billion in the Digital Switch-Over (DSO) project commissioned by the NBC.
- The parties concerned were all once under the direct supervision of Mr. Lai Mohammed while he was Minister of Information.
- Counsel to Omoluwa and Onifade, Alex Izinyon, tried to block Lai Mohammed and Shuaibu Sabo, a bureau de change operator, from being called as a witnesses in the case. The presiding judge, Justice Folashade Ogunbanjo-Giwa, however overruled the objection.
The case has been adjourned to October 2, 2019.
