Thursday, July 11th, 2019 would be a toll free day during the morning and evening peak hours at the Lekki and Admiralty toll plazas in Lagos, according to the Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Details: Addressing journalists following a tour of the Victoria Island-Lekki-Ajah axis over the issues of traffic gridlock and flooding, the governor said that there would be no tolls between 6.30am to 9.30am and between 4.30pm to 8.00pm on Thursday.
But this is not a campaign strategy: Recall that in the buildup to the last governorship election, Sanwo-Olu had visited the Lekki toll plaza on a day in December and paid toll fees for motorists for an hour. That was a campaign ploy.
- This time however, the governor said the toll free period is to enable the government conduct a traffic situation analysis in the area as it tries to find solutions to the traffic situation in the area.
