Senator Nwaoboshi denies ownership of confiscated properties

Embattled senator representing Delta North constituency in the Senate, Senator Peter Nwaoboshi has declared that the properties reported to have been seized by the Special Presidential Investigation Panel (SPIP) for the recovery of public property do not belong to him.

What went down: The controversial head of the panel, Okoi Obono-Obla, had on July 2, secured an order by Justice Taiwo O. Taiwo of a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja for Nwaoboshi to temporarily forfeit properties allegedly belonging to him and placed a post-no-debit order on 22 bank accounts linked to Nwaoboshi.

But in a dramatic twist, Senator Nwaoboshi, who is also embroiled in an elections petitions tribunal battle with Ned Nwoko, has come out to deny ownership of the said properties forfeited in Abuja and Lagos.

The Senator declared;

  • “I don’t own a property in Warri, I don’t own a property in Lagos. I don’t own a property in Maitama, Abuja and all these accounts.
  • “I challenge SPIP to publish what is in all these accounts for Nigerians to see how much I own and whether the money in these accounts are too big for a Senator.”

It is now left for Obono-Obla and the SPIP to prove, beyond all reasonable doubt in court, the validity of its claim and have Senator Nwaoboshi answer to any crimes he is culpable of.
