The deputy governor of Kogi state, Elder Simon Achuba, on Wednesday accused the governor of threatening his life.
Background: Achuba informed journalists of threats to his life in Lokoja just hours after letters from his lawyers to Governor for the release of his entitlements surfaced publicly. According to that letter, the Deputy Governor has been denied access to these entitlements.
- This is not the first time Governor Bello has been accused of threatening the life of an individual. Natasha Akpoti, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) senatorial candidate in Kogi accused Gov. Bello of threats to her life in Febrary.
Governor Bello’s take: The Governor has rejected his Deputy’s accusation asking that he should seek redress in court. Per a statement released by one of his aides, Bello maintained that the funds have not been approved for disbursement and cannot be paid.
