The Emir of Katsina over the weekend lamented the deplorable state of security in his state. He made this known while addressing Islamic clerics in the State.
What he said: Emir Abdulmumin Kabir lamented that: “The bandits have killed my people and kidnapped women and children.”
Why it matters: Recall that the traditional head of the Daura township in Katsina state was kidnapped for a month on the 2nd of July. The kidnapped traditional ruler, Alhaji Musa Umar, is a relative of President Buhari’s Aide De Camp. Although a team of police operatives posed with the Magajin on his return, it was not revealed if any ransom was paid to the kidnappers.
Bottomline: It is important that the Emir of Katsina is now speaking about the security situation within Katsina state. We cannot forget when the same Emir blamed Buhari’s enemies for the insecurity facing the nation. President Buhari who enjoys overwhelming popularity in his home state now needs to be told that all is not well. Even more so by his own Emir.
